Origin & history
Artichokes were introduced to Da Lat during the French colonial period, when the city was developed as a temperate hill station. Over time, local farmers began cultivating them successfully in Lam Dong Province, and artichoke dishes became one of Da Lat's best-known regional specialties.
How to order & pay
For solo diners, order one bowl and ask for a smaller portion if available. Say 'khong hanh' if you want no onion garnish. Ask for 'canh atiso chay' for vegetarian-style soup when offered.
Cash is still widely accepted. Many mid-range restaurants also take QR payments or Vietnamese bank transfers.

Allergens
May contain pork; some versions use fish sauce or shrimp-based seasoning

Health notes
This is usually a gentle option for travelers with a sensitive stomach. Check whether the broth contains MSG or fish sauce if you need a lighter meal.
