The dish is an adaptation of Chinese braised duck noodle soup, localized with Vietnamese herbs and ingredients over generations. It remains strongly associated with Saigon’s Chợ Lớn district and the city’s vibrant Chinese-Vietnamese community, and is rarely found in northern or central Vietnam.
